NPO and APO Collaborate to Enhance Pakistan's Gemstone Industry through International Standards

National Productivity Organization (NPO), Pakistan in collaboration with Asian Productivity Organization (APO), Japan is organizing an International Workshop on value addition of gemstone products for compliance with international standards from 22nd to 25th April 2024 at Islamabad hotel. The said workshop is expected to be attended by 18 overseas participants from Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Vietnam from APO member countries, 11 local participants and sessions will be delivered by the international resource speakers from Thailand. read more

The speaker stressed on productivity led economic growth in Pakistan and said that there is a need to increase productivity in the country's industrial sector. They said that Current Account Deficit in Pakistan is difficult to resolve without increasing export and foreign investment and to bring export and foreign investment, it is necessary to bring productivity in the country industrial sector. read more

A 11 member’s delegation headed by Chief Executive Officer (CEO), National Productivity organization (NPO) Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry visited Indonesia for the Promotion of Green Productivity and Sustainable Economic Growth of Pakistani Leather Sector.
The delegation was comprising of leather manufacturers (tanners), representative of leather garments and footwear, industrial trade bodies. The delegation is arranged by NPO Pakistan in collaboration with WWF Pakistan through APO Japan assistance. NPO has organized “Press Briefing on the Role / Importance and updates” on 1st Productivity Movement of Pakistan (Awareness Phase), A way to Unlocking Economic Potential through Productivity and Competitiveness” in Islamabad Hotel on 6th July 2022.
One of the NPO’s key developmental initiative is “Improving Competitiveness through Sustainable National Productivity (SNP)”. The encompassing objective of the project is to launch massive awareness programs to help in enhancing the productivity of different segments of economy. Moreover, under Planning Commission’s Strategic initiative of “Turn Around Pakistan”, the Government of Pakistan has initiated a plan to stabilize the economic condition of Pakistan. Vision 2025 with the first stage of greater, more long terms vision leading up to our first century in 2047. This vision rests on 7 pillars as key driver of growth which will transform Pakistan into a vibrant & prosperous nation. Among 7 Pillars, the pillar VI namely as “Improving National Competitiveness” has been assigned to NPO. National Productivity Organization (NPO), Ministry of Industries & Production organized an awareness session for woman entrepreneurs on September 30, 2021. The session was organized with the objective to improve productivity awareness of women entrepreneurs and active engagement in SMEs Fund initiated by NPO Pakistan through support of Asian Productivity Organization (APO).
Honorable Federal Minister for Industries & Production Makhdum Khusro Bukhtiar was the Chief Guest on the occasion. During his address, he stressed on productivity enhancement and competitiveness of SMEs in the local and global market to achieve sustainable development in Pakistan. The Federal Minister highlighted the Government’s efforts to support industrial development through a set of policies and tax benefits to industries and specifically women entrepreneurs. He also shared that the government will introduce specialized credits for firms with provisions for majority of women. He appreciated NPO Pakistan to organize the session for woman entrepreneurs and hoped that this will help strengthen the role of woman in business and industry.

Islamabad: The Tokyo-based Asian Productivity Organization (APO) commences its Diamond Jubilee through a virtual launch on 21 January 2021, 14:00 Japan Time (10:00 am PST).
Pakistan being one of the eight founding members will also host an APO 60th anniversary commemorative event in July 2021. All the events consist of international conferences, forums, and concurrent side programs and will produce anniversary publications, and videos.
